10 Reasons to Go

Mosaic Church Family,

Mosaic Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, community, and mission in a multiethnic, multigenerational context.

One of the most beautiful ways we live this out is by stepping beyond our comfort zones through short term mission trips, and joining God in what He is doing around the world.

In conjunction with our global Every Nation family, we believe God is moving in every nation, among every people, and through ordinary people willing to say “yes.”

So…why should YOU consider saying “yes” and participate in a short-term mission trip?

Well, after being on many trips myself, here are my top 10 reasons!

10. You’ll eat incredible food.
Empanadas. Chicken, rice and beans. Fresh tropical fruit. Coffee that changes your life. Mission trips come with unforgettable meals and the joy of gathering around tables with people from different cultures.

9. You might learn a new language (or at least a few phrases).
There’s something powerful about learning to say “hello,” “thank you,” and “Jesus loves you” in another language. It reminds us that the Kingdom of God is beautifully diverse.

8. You’ll meet people from around the world.
Mission trips expand your understanding of the global Church. You quickly realize that while cultures may look different, worshiping Jesus unites us all as family in an inexplicable way.

7. Your worldview gets better, richer, and deeper.
It’s easy to get stuck in routines and familiar perspectives. Missions stretch your heart, open your eyes, and remind you that God is moving far beyond what we see during our daily routine.

6. You’ll build deep community.
While this may seem unlikely on a shorter trip, there really is something about serving, praying, traveling, laughing…and sometimes getting stuck in a remote village in east Africa together that creates lifelong friendships and spiritual family.

5. God will use your gifts.
You do not need to be a pastor, preacher, or Bible scholar to make a huge impact on a short trip. God uses encouragers, organizers, listeners, athletes, creatives, teachers, students, parents, and people simply willing to serve, and yes, we’ve taken ALL of the above.

4. You’ll encounter God in a fresh way.
When we step out with just a little faith, God often meets us in a BIG way. Mission trips have a way of renewing passion, deepening prayer, and awakening greater trust in Him.

3. You’ll see the beauty of the global Church.
As part of the Every Nation family, we get to partner with churches and campus ministries around the world that are planting churches, reaching campuses, and making disciples in every nation.

2. Someone’s life could change forever, not to mention their eternity.
A conversation. A prayer. An invitation. A testimony. God can use a simple moment to impact someone’s eternity. You may not know until you get to heaven how your obedience becomes part of someone else’s life story with Jesus.

1. Jesus told us to go.
Before ascending to heaven, Jesus gave His followers this mission:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19–20 (NIV)
Enough said.

I hope my top 10 reasons have convinced you (or at least opened your heart) to come with us on mission to another part of the world. Mission is not just for a few people—it is part of the calling of every disciple of Jesus. And the incredible thing is that when we go, we do not go alone. Jesus promises to be with us always (that’s my favorite part).

This summer, Mosaic teams will be serving in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, as well as taking a vision trip to Bolivia to work alongside our Argentina church plant partners. We would love for our entire church family to partner with us in prayer.

Please pray:
– For safe travel and healthy teams
– For unity, humility, and servant hearts
– For a strong impact to be made in the communities we serve
– For lives to be transformed by the love and Gospel of Jesus
– For God to move powerfully in Colombia, Dominican Republic, Bolivia and Argentina
– For our teams to return with greater faith, compassion, and vision for God’s Kingdom

Thank you, Mosaic family, for being a church that believes in worship, community, and mission—not just locally, but to the nations.

Also, it is not too late to join our mission trip to Rwanda, Africa where we will work alongside Africa New Life. Registration closes July 1, 2026.

The world is waiting. Let’s go together.

Many blessings,
Rosalynn Smith, PhD.
