Prayer
Because the primary goal of our time together is to establish relationships and learn how to walk with one another in all that God has called us to be and do, we’d like to begin by praying for one another. So, does anyone have anything you’d like us to pray for or anything to share regarding how you’ve seen God moving in your life that we can celebrate together?
Opening Question:
What generation would you say you are from?
I am writing to you, dear children,
because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
I am writing to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I am writing to you, young men,
because you have overcome the evil one.
I write to you, dear children,
because you know the Father.
I write to you, fathers,
because you know him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and the word of God lives in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.
– 1 John 2:12-14
Love Celebrates
Because faith isn’t just one sound, richness comes when our different “sounds” all blend together. Let’s take some time to celebrate our generational “sounds” as a group:
What word, item, or phrase do you feel belongs to your generation?
Is there a brand/franchise/business your generation loved that is no longer around?
What’s one thing you admire about another generation?
Love Walks in Unity
One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.
– Psalm 145:4
What is something valuable you have learned from someone of an older generation?
What is something valuable you have learned from someone of a younger generation?
How can different generations best love, honor, and serve one another?
Love Builds Something that Lasts
You have no idea what your legacy will be. Your legacy is what you do every day. Your legacy is every life you’ve touched, every person whose life was either moved or not. It’s every person you’ve harmed or helped. That’s your legacy.
– Maya Angelou
Whose legacy has helped shape you?
What do you want your friends and family to remember about you when your life is over?
What kind of legacy could we, as a church, leave in Austin and Fort Worth? What steps can you personally take to help build that legacy?
In Closing
The future belongs to those who give the next generation reason for hope.
– Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
In your final moments together, imagine some things God could do in our city by taking turns sharing one thing you hope the future will hold for us all.
