5 Reasons Why Promptness is next to Godliness

At Mosaic, we love seeing you! And, we wouldn’t mind seeing some of you a little bit more, or even a little bit earlier!

I know, as a parent with four bigger kids who used to be little kids, that getting anywhere with kids is a challenge…diaper changes, attitudes, breakdowns, feeding, which often necessitate clothing changes (theirs and sometimes yours) are real things.

I know Austin traffic is a real thing, too.

And, I know on some Sundays, finding a parking spot can sometimes be a challenge.

Despite all of those obstacles, allow me to encourage you to be seen extra, by arriving promptly (or even early) for your chosen service time!

Here are 5 quick reasons why promptness is next to godliness (feel free to pass these on to your children, co-workers, or friends, where appropriate!):
1. Promptness honors another’s time.
2. Promptness allows you to get more out of your time at and in church.
3. Promptness (generally) reduces stress.
4. Promptness demonstrates faithfulness in small things.
5. Promptness allows you space to be an unexpected blessing to others.

Especially for our music team, who practices, rehearses, and prepares to bless and serve you, arriving in your seat, on time, kids dropped off, and having gotten your coffee ahead of time shows gratitude for the space created by others.

My college baseball coach drilled it into us: “If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late.”

Is there a Bible verse for this? No, thankfully. Do I always live this out? No, regretfully.

But it is something which, when practiced, demonstrates honor for others AND makes your day even better!

Finally, you will be thankful you were there promptly for not only this week (upcoming Elder nominations), but for Sunday, May 24, which is Pentecost Sunday! Pentecost at Mosaic is a highly celebratory day, with a choir, special music, and a highlighting of what God is doing through Mosaic and our global Every Nation family around the world. Plus, since this is the day all are encouraged to wear their culture’s traditional attire, being present and on time gives you more time to represent!

So be extra. And we will see you soon.

With gratitude for your presence,

🙂 Morgan Stephens, DMin
