| My heart is full as I anticipate remembering, and celebrating, the core message of the Christian faith: Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, came to live for us, die for us, and be resurrected for us. This weekend at both Mosaic North and South will be powerful times of connection and ministry in view of that life-changing truth. Here’s what you need to know: At Mosaic North: Our Good Friday service times will be at 6 and 7:30 pm. A sober atmosphere of remembrance and reflection will lead us into a creative ministry moment and receiving communion together. Easter Sunday, we will have four service times: 8:30 am, 10 am, 11:30 am, and 1 pm (please try to attend either the 8:30 am or 1 pm, if at all possible). We will have special music, a dance, and some unique video interviews we have done, asking people from across Austin what Easter even means. I can’t wait to try to answer that question, looking at Matthew 28. A word of caution: please come on time! We have overflow seating prepared, but if you are running late, seating in our main room is not guaranteed! Your best chance of getting the seat you may like or are accustomed to will be at the 8:30 am or 1 pm services. Again, please try to attend one of those if possible for you! At Mosaic South: Our Good Friday service time will be at 7:30 pm. We will be looking at what price Judas paid for his betrayal, and how things could have gone differently for him (and can go differently for us!). Along with a unique ministry moment, we will also receive communion. Easter Sunday times are our normal service times of 9:30 and 11:30 am. Along with special music and videos, Dr. Terrance Green will be sharing about what the common Christian confession means, when we say, “He is Risen, Indeed.” It will be a powerful moment for the whole church. I can’t wait to see so many of you! Feel free to wear your Easter finest: suits, dresses, hats, heels…or shorts and your nicest t-shirt if that’s how you roll. Last thought: Easter Sunday represents the single largest gathering of Christians on a Sunday each year, and is an amazing opportunity for Jesus to be preached and the Kingdom demonstrated. Surely in our multiethnic, multigenerational church context, we are a bright light and public witness in a culture that needs who you are and what we represent. Let’s come with hearts full of faith and anticipation, and allow the depth of Good Friday’s cross to lead us to the heights of Easter’s empty tomb. Morgan Stephens, DMin Lead Pastor |
