| …to take Mosaic’s Top-Tier Membership Course, if you haven’t already! Let me give you (quickly) my Top 5 Reasons: 1.) The Content, Subject Matter, and Instructors are Excellent. You’ll learn about everything from our soteriology (view of salvation) to pneumatology (view of the Holy Spirit) to ecclesiology (how the church is structured). Lifelong Christians regularly report being ministered to and personally grown by what they hear in this course. 2.) Your teen should consider taking it. It’s that grounding and stabilizing for their faith. 3.) You’ll make connections in the class. This course definitely functions like a positive relational starter kit, if you’re new! 4.) We often hear it’s one of the best courses, if not THE best course, offered at Mosaic. Who wouldn’t want to experience that? 5.) Church membership swims directly upstream against the debilitating culture force of consumerism. That sentence was a mouthful, but it’s true. Hear me out:As fish breathe water, Americans breathe advertising. We are tempted to define ourselves by the brands we wear and the car we drive. Unfortunately, American consumerism and unlimited individualism are siren songs that often leave the listener dashed on the rocks of self, all alone–with bills to show for it. The Christian vision is something else, and something unique–Christ always calls us to follow him with others. Saying, “I am a member of a church” is, in my perspective, something blessedly dignifying: it says, a human is more than his or her whims, desires, and potential purchasing power. You are not a number to us! Choosing to become a member honors Scripture, honors our design, and shifts the focus of our lives from self only to a growing self within a specific community. Being rooted in a Christ-centered community is a gift you can give to yourself, to your family, and to others. And it all begins with a single step: register for a 5 week course, beginning Sunday, October 4. Even if you have to miss a class, we can help navigate you through.
