Happy Women’s History Month!
I just wanted to take a moment to follow up on an important announcement you heard on Sunday if you were present in person or online at Mosaic North.
Beginning on March 31 (Easter), we will be moving our three services at Mosaic North to 8:30 am, 10 am, and 11:30 am (Easter only will have a fourth at 1 pm as well).
Here are some potential questions you may have:
Why are we doing this?
In short, to continue to make space, as best we can, to accommodate the growth we have seen over the past year.
Mosaic North’s second service, in particular, has had challenges with overcrowding, while our 12:30 pm, it’s safe to say, has not.
What will we gain?
We feel that these three new times give us an opportunity at spreading around some of our growth and making three realistic times to attend for as many people as possible. For those of you who might be newer, you should know that pre-Covid, Mosaic had four services, also beginning at 8:30 am. I only mention this to say we have done this time before!
What will we lose?
Mainly, a little downtime between our current first and second services. While that has been nice to have, in some ways it has come at the expense of a better third service option. Coming out of Covid, we simply added on the 12:30 pm service to the already existing 9 am and 11 am options.
What will this loss mean?
It means that we need to double down on our connections in our Mosaic Communities. The ship has long since sailed for us to be able to have everyone experience everything they might want, relationally, on a Sunday morning only, with a one-service structure. The upside to our growth is that allows us to do so much more in the city!
However, if you feel like you really want that kind of environment, we do have that at our South Campus, currently!
Are there any other changes with this move?
Yes! Student ministry for high school will meet during the 10 am, and middle school will meet at 11:30 am (you may know both groups are welcome at both services, but the focus for now is on high school at one, and middle school at the other).
Street Ministry will remain at the same time, and any new GROW class times will be communicated to those classes.
What can I do?
If you are able, please consider not attending the 10 am! That one, for obvious reasons, will already start off really full. If that is where you can attend, please, by all means, come at 10, but again, we are trying to move as many, where possible, to 8:30 and 11:30 am to allow more guests space to be seated. A truism that we have seen played out is that when a service is overfull, our guests won’t select another time, they tend to not come back!
Your choice, where possible for you, really has a level of mission attached to it.
Thank you so much for flexing with us. I do realize this causes a level of disruption for all of us, and quite possibly multiple levels of disruption for some of us, my family included!
Through you, God has been so faithful and we are doing our best to steward what is happening here.
See you this Sunday as we begin our new series entitled: Family Practice: How to Create and Keep What Matters Most.
I can’t wait, as we come with hearts full of worship, faith and love for Jesus!
Morgan
