A Grace to Belong.

As Christmas Eve and Christmas get closer by the hour, let’s pause and look back quickly at how God made His presence known on campus and in our community throughout November.

Of course, November carries a lot with it. Gratitude, transition, the start of the holidays, and, for many, a slower pace that makes room for reflection and connection, creating a sense of belonging and community.

It’s a season that naturally invites everyone, whether on campus or in the community, to remember shared stories and our shared oneness as people made in God’s image.

On campus, November can be a mixed bag. For some students, it’s their first Thanksgiving away from home, or a season marked by loneliness and uncertainty.

Yet, no matter where any one person is, we’re thankful that God sets the lonely in families (Psalm 68:6), and that ENC sits right at the intersection of students longing for community and belonging in ways only He can fully provide.

Through moments like ENC Friendsgiving, students were not only fed a comforting meal, but welcomed into a deeper connection.

Around shared tables and honest conversations, walls come down, relationships form, and hearts open to Jesus and one another.

And what started as a meal became a reminder that they are seen, known, and not alone.

In that space, many students discover a more genuine sense of belonging and purpose, one rooted in Christ and carried with them through their time on campus and beyond.

That same story is unfolding within our Mosaic Community, where we gather monthly to grow, serve, and keep Jesus at the center of our spiritual formation and maturation.

And to help guide us in our spiritual formation and maturity, we kicked off a brand-new series called The Belonging Project: Four Pathways to Create Connection.

Together, we were reminded that our deepest needs are not just physical, but spiritual and emotional. At the heart of them all is our need to belong.

And often, when we create belonging for others, we find it growing in our own lives too, especially as we follow the generous way of Jesus.

One of the highlights of this series was Live Big Sunday, where we asked a simple but challenging question:

What if we were known in our city not just for what we believe, but for how we love and give?

God used that question to move us to action. As a church, we raised $1,538.71 for Christian Community Assistance, a Christ-centered nonprofit serving Fort Worth since 1989.

When we surprised them with the gift, here’s how they responded:

This is what it looks like to be God’s church. Showing up with open hands and open hearts. Making God’s presence known in practical ways that help people feel seen, valued, loved, and welcomed into gospel-centered community.

It’s the quiet, faithful way God keeps working in ordinary spaces, around tables, through conversations, and in acts of generosity shaped by His grace.

Thank you for being part of the stories God is writing through this local church. Your prayers, generosity, and presence are helping people find family, neighbors feel seen, and our city catch real glimpses of Jesus.

Which leads me to one of the ways we’ll continue that story is by gathering on Christmas Eve at 4 PM

And you’re invited! We’d love for you to join us for an evening of sing-along carols, hot cocoa and cookies, and a message of hope in the arrival of the very essence of community and belonging: Jesus.

Until next time, from our family to yours… Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
