Between TV shows, roadside shops, horoscopes in newspapers, and perhaps a friend or family member you know, New Age Spirituality is everywhere in our culture.
What’s fascinating about it is, that despite decades of insistence from the cultural elite that things like faith, God, and spirituality were on their way out of fashion or use altogether because of the rise of science and secularism, the opposite, in fact, has happened.
Spirituality, especially among younger adults, has not diminished, but exploded. A flood of articles over the last few months from sources as disparate as the New York Times, Christianity Today, and Vox.com have all traced the rise in the search for the spiritual.
And, in particular, there has been a rise in interest in New Age Spirituality–that is, the use of crystals, tarot cards, sage burning, and astrology as an answer to life’s questions and as a source of power over the unknown.
What does the Christian say to this? What might the Christian Gospel have to say?
On Friday, November 21, at our upcoming Singles Real Talk, we will be having dialogue around the intersection of the person of Jesus and the belief system of New Age Spirituality, along with a message from Pastor Rosalynn Smith (just a hint on her kind and loving direction: we don’t need to look to rocks to help us when we have the one who made the rocks.)
Curious? Great.
While anyone is welcome, this event is aimed at fostering connection among the single people of Mosaic, and the friends they invite. Dinner will be served, laughter will be had, ministry will take place, and learning will happen…and maybe best of all, the event is free.
Registration closes soon. Again, it’s free, but as always, if you would like to eat, we would like to know you’re coming.
Registration makes that possible.
It’s going to be a powerful and unique night. Can’t wait for you to be there.
